Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know to get started with your training and weight diary.
What is Motionskoll?
Motionskoll is a free training and weight diary online. You log your workouts and your weight and see your progress in clear charts – on the desktop, mobile and tablet.
Is it free?
Yes. Motionskoll is completely free and has been since the start. You don't need any card details to create an account.
How do I create an account?
Click Sign up, enter a username, email and password and you're ready to go. You can start logging sessions right away.
How do I log a training session?
Click New session (or a day in the calendar on the home page). Choose an activity and fill in time, distance, heart rate and any notes. Pace per kilometre is calculated automatically.
How do I enter the time?
Enter time as minutes and seconds with a dot, for example 42.30 for 42 minutes and 30 seconds.
Can I log strength training with sets, reps and weight?
Yes. When you log or edit a session there's an Exercises section where you add one line per exercise with sets, reps and weight. Under Charts → Strength progress you can see how your heaviest weight develops over time for each exercise, and your personal best. Exercises are also included in the Excel export.
Can I add my own sports?
Yes! Under My profile → My sports you can add and remove sports. The ones you add appear as options when you log a session.
Can I edit or delete a session?
Yes. Go to Diary → All sessions and click Edit on the row you want to change or delete.
How does the weight diary work?
Under Weight you record weight and body measurements (waist, chest, thigh). You see your weight trend in a chart and your BMI is calculated automatically from weight and height.
How do I set a goal?
Go to Goals and choose a Training goal or Weight goal. Enter a target value and a target date – you'll see how close you are with a progress bar and celebrate when you reach it.
What charts are available?
You'll find sessions, distance and training time per month, a year-over-year comparison, breakdown per sport, and per-year summaries for your full history – under Charts.
I forgot my password – what do I do?
Click Forgot password? on the sign-in page and enter your email. We'll email you a link (valid for one hour) where you choose a new password.
How do I change my password or email?
Under My profile you can update your username, email and password.
Can I use Motionskoll on mobile?
Yes, the site is mobile-friendly. You can also add Motionskoll to your home screen and open it like an app: in Safari via the Share button, in Chrome via the ”Add to Home screen” menu.
How do I delete my account?
Under My profile, at the bottom, you can delete your account. This permanently removes all your data and cannot be undone.
What is the PT feature?
The PT feature connects your account to a personal trainer, or to your clients if you're a trainer yourself. You can see each other's relevant training data, send messages to each other, and the trainer can set goals for you.
How do I invite a trainer or client?
Go to PT in the menu and click Invite. Enter the person's email address and choose whether you're inviting them as your trainer or your client – they must already have a Motionskoll account. They'll get an invite to accept or decline.
How do I import my training from Samsung Health?
Open the Samsung Health app, tap the menu (⋮) → Settings → Download personal data and confirm with your Samsung account password. The files are saved in the Download/Samsung Health folder on your phone. Then go to Import in your training diary – it works right in your phone's browser – and choose the file named com.samsung.shealth.exercise…csv. Motionskoll recognizes the file and converts duration, distance and sports for you. You can keep using Samsung Health alongside: make a new export whenever you like and import again – only new sessions are added.
Can I import my training history from Strava or other apps?
Yes. Under Import on the Training diary, you can upload a CSV or Excel file, for example exported from Strava. Motionskoll automatically tries to recognize the columns, and you get a preview before anything is saved.
Which file formats are supported for import?
CSV and Excel (.xlsx). You can match which columns in the file correspond to date, activity, duration and distance before confirming the import.
What happens to missing sports, and if I import the same file again?
Sports that aren't in your profile are created automatically during the import, and in the preview you can untick any sports you don't want – your choice is remembered in the browser for next time. Sessions already in your diary (same date, sport and duration) are skipped – so you can import a newer export later without getting duplicates.
